Web hosting provider Hostway is offering a cash-back promotion to pre-registrants of .Asia domain names. The company will provide a 3% cash-back on auction bids to companies choosing .Asia domain names that must go to the competitive auction process (applied when multiple registrants choose the same .Asia domain name), and a 7.50 UK pounds rebate on successful domain registrations where one or more domains are purchased from Hostway. The offer ends February 19th, after which the Landrush phase will begin.

“As the largest top-level domain name release for several years, companies are faced with both an opportunity and a challenge,” explained Hostway’s Product Manager, Mr. Thomas Herbert. “The Asian market is seeing significant potential for growth at the moment, and most companies are keen to either expand to or target this region and acquire a region-specific domain name. However, Hostway understands that competition for domain names can be fierce, so we have launched these two promotions to support our customers.”
According to Hostway, 60% of the world’s population and over 400 million Internet users live in the Asia-Pacific region, and companies “may be risking their pan-Asian brand identity if they fail to register and competitively bid for their domain name. This can result in the undermining of company trademarks and the expensive re-acquisition of the name later on”.
